Have a child who loves animals and has a keen interest in learning to ride?

Pawsitively Pets has a great program for our animal loving friends who also have a love for horses and want to be introduced to horseback riding!  Our new Learn to Ride program for campers 7 to 12 years old is available for a limited number of campers in the 2017.  We will have our Learn to Ride Level 1 camp available for first time riders for 3 sessions, and Learn to Ride Level 2 for returning campres for 1 session.

Our Learn to Ride program allows children to take part in all the great hands-on Pawsitively Pets programs, meeting all our animals hands-on as well as taking part in daily riding and horsemanship lessons.  This program is in partnership with RCRA (located approximately 45 minutes north of Toronto.)  The program will take a maximum of 20 campers per week.

Campers must be 7 years old by December 31st, 2017 in order to attend the Learn to Ride camp program.

The Learn to Ride program will take place at our riding partners location - RCRA in Newmarket.  Campers will be bused to RCRA each day.  (Please ensure you register for busing when registering, unless you plan to drop your child off at camp and pick them up each day.)  Our Learn to Ride program will provide daily activities interacting hands-on with a wide variety of animals, working with them hands on and understanding more about them, their care and how to safely interact with them as well as daily riding lessons and horsemanship.  Campers will have the chance to spend the majority of their day working hands-on with all of the different types of animals.  Animals range from pocket pets, reptiles, bugs, zoo animals, exotic animals, birds and birds of prey.  Riding will be instructed by certified teachers from RCRA and teach campers the basics of English riding, focusing on balance, position and comfort working with horses.  The riding aspect of this program is meant for beginner riders and has been developed to help them master the basic skills of riding and horsemanship.   IF YOUR CHILD ATTENDED THE PROGRAM IN 2016, they are welcome to sign up for 2017 and we will group them with riders who have done the program before to help them progress their skill set.  As with all the Pawsitively Pets programs the core program is based on working safely with animals in a well supervised and controlled setting.  Campers will have the opportunity to ride for 1 hour each day and have 1 hour of horsemanship, focusing on learning the key ascpects of grooming, tacking up feeding, and general horse care.  Campers will spend the majority of their day interacting with  animals each day in a hands-on format.

Camp hours are 9am - 4pm.  Busing  is available for $60 HST per week, or $48 HST for the short week
