Junior Dog Trainers

Come to camp and help make a difference in the life of a homeless dog!

Junior Dog Trainer Camp is a specialty camp for children 10 to 14 years old to work with shelter dogs hands-on each day!

Work hands on with a professional dog trainer and spend the week training shelter dogs in basic obedience and help them have a successful journey to their new home!

The Pawsitively Pets Junior Dog Trainer Camp is a highly specialized program that accepts approximately 14-16 campers per week. Children accepted into this program will learn all the key fundamentals of dog training and work hands on each day with the dogs and a professional dog trainer to train a shelter dog in basic obedience. All dogs have been pre-assessed to ensure that they are safe for the campers to work with.

Campers will work in groups of 2 to 4 to train shelter dogs over the week long program. They will learn all the ins and outs of positive reinforcement training, how to use a clicker and timing of rewards while training. They will spend several hours a day working with their assigned dog for the day as well as one hour each day in class to work on training techniques and commands. An hour each day will be spent working in the shelter assisting with animal support programs. The Junior Dog Trainer program will provide campers with all the fundamentals of basic obedience and working confidently with dogs. The program will provide the dogs the chance of a lifetime skills to help them be adopted into a loving home.

Please note that dogs may vary during the week depending on their suitability to the program and health.  Some dogs in the shelter require medical care which may mean they cannot participate in the program for the whole week and will be replaced with a different dog.

All participants receive a clicker and treat bag with their registration.

Open to participants 10 to 14 years old.

Camp will be held at Toronto Animal Services North Shelter - 1300 Sheppard Ave West

Extended Care is available beginning at 8am pick-up by 5:30pm for an additional $60 per week.
